A sports car with hybrid power? Seems like an oxymoron. But it is true, thanks to Honda CR-Z. This totally green coupe has been honored as a finalist for Wheels Car of the Year.

Wheels judge James Whitbourn said that CR-Z is a "refreshingly pure and enjoyable" ride, "Combine the grin factor with the efficiency promised by the hybrid system and there's little doubt the Honda coupe takes the car where it should be going - smaller, lighter, more efficient and more fun."¹

CR-Z is in the running against six other foreign and domestic coupes. Each offers their own significant addition to performance driving. However, with its 1.5 liter engine and electric motor with nickel-metal hydride battery pack, we feel this Honda has a great chance of winning.

Wheels editor Bill Thomas added that this years' finalists are the widest range of entrants in the award's 49-year history.

Wheels Car of the Year winner will be announced January 18. The CR-Z is currently available at Big Island Honda - Kona in Kailua Kona, HI. Good Luck Honda!
